SBM is seeking a Waste Technician in the San Francisco area to collect, sort and process municipal solid waste including trash, recycling, medical and hazardous materials. The role emphasizes accurate sorting, weight records, and maintaining a clean, safe site while coordinating with a small team.

Responsibilities include performing repetitive tasks, following company procedures, and ensuring on-time completion of duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 1-2 years recycling or solid waste experience.
  • May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean Motor Vehicle Report.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification a plus; vaccination records may be required.
  • May be required to become forklift certified and hazardous waste handling training.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

Responsibilities

  • Collect trash, recycle, medical and hazardous waste at client facility.
  • Weigh materials and keep records of waste quantities collected.
  • Sort materials into assigned categories and inspect for type and condition.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas; operate and drive as needed up to 40–50% of shift.
  • Follow safety rules and communicate professionally with team and supervisors.

# **Title:**Waste Technician# **Job Description:****Job Overview**The Waste Technician collects general Municipal Solid Waste (trash, recycling, medical and hazardous waste) generated at client facility and categorize by material type. Collection, hauling, store and processing of pre-sorted waste and disposal of post sorted waste into dumpsters, compactors, bailors, or trailers.**Roles & Responsibilities**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Required to collect trash, recycle, medical and or hazardous waste.* Will be trained on the collecting, consolidating and or sorting process.* Will be expected to collect, consolidate, and or sort materials into the assigned categories efficiently and accurately.* Inspects materials and sort items or materials according to type, size, condition, coloring, marking, or other characteristics.* Weighs materials and containers and keeps records of the total amount of waste collected as requested.* Maintains work area areas during the shift in a clean and orderly manner.* Sweep and pick up trash around dumpsters, utility courtyards, docks, and fence lines. Maintain a clean working area.* Collection, hauling and processing of pre-sorted waste and disposal of post sorted waste into dumpsters or compactors.* Establishes secondary jobs to ensure always busy* Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Stop at risk behavior of others and self.* Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.* Perform repetitive tasks.* Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.* Ensure you are up to date on all site required trainings.* Take direction and respond to supervision.* Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner.* Use proper personal protective equipment.* Present a professional appearance and conduct.* Understand customer service and satisfaction.* Other duties as assigned.**Qualification**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
