Job summary

City of Boynton Beach is seeking a Solid Waste Division Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations, direct staff, and coordinate routes and special pickups. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, maintaining equipment, and managing performance through established systems.

Essential duties involve emergency response participation, budget support, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role requires a CDL, OSHA certifications, and leadership experience in municipal waste services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or valid equivalent; five (5) years of experience in solid waste ops, customer relations, equipment operation, and PC use.
• Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class B CDL.
• Must possess (or obtain within 24 months) an OSHA General Industry Card.
• Must obtain 15-Hour OSHA Disaster Industry card, 30-Hour OSHA General Industry card, and Lock Out Tag Out Certification within nine months.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates staff; manages performance through performance system; assists in interviewing and supervising staff.
• Conducts safety meetings; coordinates with staff; provides technical expertise such as using a system to optimize routes and collect metrics.
• Oversees work orders, schedules, and resource use; coordinates with crews and private contractors during storms or emergencies.
• Maintains safety compliance, reviews reports, and ensures accurate timesheets and attendance records.
• Assists in evaluating division efficiency and budgeting; supports safety and operational procedures.
