Republic Services in Portland, OR seeks an Operations Supervisor to directly supervise a shift of waste handling activities, ensure safety, enforce procedures, and train team members. The role includes coordinating with vendors, monitoring inventory, directing loading/unloading, and making batch decisions based on waste profile data and permits.

This position requires 3–5 years of relevant experience and knowledge of hazardous waste management; DOT training and licenses are preferred.

Formación

• 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste management.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• Knowledge of personnel management, operations, equipment, waste processing and recycling techniques.
• Knowledge of receiving, purchasing, work orders, special licenses, and DOT training.

Responsabilidades

• Supervises the activities of operations personnel.
• Supervises inventory compliance and the maintenance of supplies.
• Coordinates with vendors, transporters, and treatment facilities.
• Provides housekeeping of all waste handling/processing areas and proper storage/handling of process chemicals.
• Directs off-loading operations for receipt of materials into storage and waste processing systems.
• Ensures safe, effective treatment of wastes including collection and analysis of waste samples.
• Makes decisions consistent with waste profile data and facility permits.
• Determines batch clearance approvals for filtering of effluent.
• Collects post-treatment samples to determine suitability for disposal.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of maintenance requirements for plant/transportation equipment.
• Reviews and signs RCRA manifests.
• Ensures safety rules are followed and personnel are trained.
• Participates in emergency response operations on- and off-site.
• Directly supervises 2 or more employees.
• Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines; resolves problems.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
