Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Waste Handling Technician to perform solidification and treatment of DU-containing waste and operate liquid waste systems at the Jonesborough facility. You will follow procedures, maintain records, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Work with safety, radiological controls, and operations staff, wear PPE, and support continuous improvement in waste operations. Requires high school diploma and 2+ years of related experience; US citizenship and ability to obtain

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in waste handling, chemical processing, or industrial operations.
• Must be willing to work any shift.
• Experience working with hazardous materials.
• Basic understanding of waste treatment processes and industrial equipment.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures in a highly regulated environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs solidification and stabilization of DU-containing waste per procedures.
• Operates liquid waste treatment systems and plant sewer processes.
• Handles, transfers, packages, and labels waste per requirements.
• Prepares waste for storage, shipment, or disposal with proper documentation.
• Adheres to safety, radiological, environmental, and waste handling procedures.
• Uses PPE and follows contamination control practices.
• Operates and monitors waste processing equipment.
• Reports equipment issues or abnormal conditions to supervision.
• Participates in pre-job briefings and job hazard analyses.
• Keeps accurate waste handling records and manifests.
