Job summary

LyondellBasell in Deer Park, TX, seeks a Waste Engineer responsible for ensuring compliance with waste management regulations for a petrochemical facility and implementing best practices to support production units.

You will manage waste classification, manifests, regulatory reporting, budget planning, and interactions with EPA/TCEQ, while pursuing cost reductions and sustainable waste solutions.

Qualifications

• Four year applicable Engineering or Science degree.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience responsible for hazardous waste regulation compliance.
• Demonstrated experience interacting with a regulatory agency (EPA/TCEQ).
• Ability to understand chemical manufacturing processes and chemistry/math.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EPA and TCEQ waste regulations.
• Identify DOT hazard classes and proper shipping descriptions.
• Prepare Waste Manifests and Land Disposal Restriction forms; maintain records.
• Maintain and improve waste management systems and records; budget for waste disposal.
• Interact with EPA/TCEQ during investigations and regulatory inquiries.
• Coordinate with Environmental Unit Contacts and contractors as needed.
