Position Summary

The County Extension Program Assistant position will perform duties necessary to assist the county extension agents in the day-to-day conduct of programs. Duties will include answering phone calls and helping 4-H and Agricultural assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Strong organizational and other soft-skills, working knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to use independent judgement and discretion with confidential information.
  • Works with limited supervision.
Physical Demands
  • Pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles.
  • Travel to events.
  • Driving.
Duties/Responsibilities

This position will assist in facilitating the county 4-H Program. Assist 4-H’ers in preparation for 4-H competitive events including project achievement, judging teams, etc. Transport or arrange transportation of 4-H’ers to various district and state level events and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events. Incorporate the results of the program evaluations and feedback in planning future program and techniques used in implementing programs. Percentage of time: 60%

This position will also help implement educational Ag programs. Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct day-to-day operations. Assist clientele with access to Extension resources and services including: printed publications, online content, other educational materials and sample submission for all diagnostic services (e.g. soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing). Percentage of time: 30%

Assist with other duties as needed. Percentage of time: 10%
