Job summary

LA Metro is seeking a skilled heavy equipment/bus mechanic to support warranty processing and assist in developing technical specifications for new buses. The role involves testing malfunctions, guiding division mechanics during modifications, and contributing to design improvements of buses and related equipment.

Responsibilities include inspecting buses at manufacturing sites, preparing warranty-related reports, and drafting equipment specifications.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience as heavy equipment or automotive mechanic, with at least 2 years as a bus mechanic.
• Completion of a 6-month full-time training program in automotive/truck maintenance; may substitute for up to 2 years non-bus experience.
• Current and verifiable ASE H Series Transit Certifications in H1-CNG, H3-Drive Train, H4-Brakes, H5-Suspension/Steering, H6-Electrical/Electronics is desirable.
• Valid California Class A driver's license.

Special Conditions

• Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
• Must provide own tools of the trade
• Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
