Job summary

Denton County Sheriff's Department is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to perform law enforcement duties across assigned areas. The role involves patrolling, serving warrants, and transporting prisoners, with exposure to typical law enforcement hazards.

The position requires comprehensive training and strict adherence to CJIS/TCOLE standards. Responsibilities include enforcing laws, responding to calls, documenting activities, and conducting warrant-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Performs other related duties as required.
• High School graduation or GED.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license; must obtain Texas license within 90 days.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• CERTIFICATION AS A PEACE OFFICER IN THE STATE OF TEXAS IS REQUIRED.
• Applicants must complete fingerprint-based background investigation and meet CJIS/TCOLE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enforces state and federal laws.
• Provides law enforcement services and responds to requests.
• Prepares documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Regular and punctual attendance is required.
• Investigates and locates subjects of outstanding warrants; executes warrants and logs evidence; makes arrests.
