Job summary

Denton County is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to perform law enforcement duties across the county, protecting lives, property and citizens' rights. Duties include patrolling, responding to calls, serving warrants, and transporting prisoners in official capacity.

The position requires Texas Peace Officer certification, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Texas license within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Texas Peace Officer is required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license; must be able to obtain a Texas driver's license within 90 days.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Enforces all state and applicable federal laws.
• Patrols county roadways and responds to service requests.
• Serves warrants and transports prisoners; answers calls for service.
• Prepares and maintains incident reports; may testify in court.
• Provides field training for other officers; conducts related instruction.
