Job summary

The Salvation Army Indiana Division is seeking a supervisor for the warming center program in Madison, IN. You will oversee guest safety, coordinate volunteers, and ensure adherence to program policies while addressing basic needs and documentation.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and Safe From Harm training. Experience with unhoused individuals and crisis intervention are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working in Human Services with the homeless or low-income individuals.
• Ability to diffuse crisis situations in team and independent settings.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and complete Safe From Harm training before employment begins.

Responsibilities

• Call out for volunteers to cover Winter Shelter shifts.
• Supervise guests and coach on program policies and rules.
• Address basic needs and orient guests to the warming center program.
• Provide supplies for basic needs (snacks, linens, belongings containers, hygiene items).
• Provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed.
• Assist other providers with individual service needs and promote activities for daily living skills.
• Plan and monitor guest group meetings and activities.
• Maintain daily logs, census, and shift-specific tasks.
• Maintain shift-to-shift communication in staff journal.
• Conduct basic intake information for new guests.
• Demonstrate cultural competence in daily responsibilities.
• Other tasks as assigned by leadership.
