Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Non Instructional/Operations - Warehouse Technician to support the district's school nutrition warehouse operations, including receiving shipments, stocking, picking, and maintaining inventory.

Under general supervision, the role uses a forklift and other equipment to unload and move materials, ensure accuracy, and comply with school policies. The position is full-time, 12 months, based at the district warehouses.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in food distribution or related field preferred.
• Must be able to perform essential functions satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Receive school nutrition warehouse materials including food and supplies; verify appropriate quantities are received and notify supervisor of any discrepancies.
• Unload shipments with the use of a forklift or pallet jack.
• Deliver and stow stock to the proper location within the warehouse.
• Pick appropriate materials for shipment based on picking slips.
• Prepare materials for delivery or shipment.
• Assist in maintaining the school nutrition warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.
• Participate in cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Operate various warehouse equipment including a forklift, electric power lift, hand drills, hand truck, and any other equipment needed to complete assigned tasks.

General Definition of Work

The warehouse worker, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion related to day-to-day school nutrition warehouse operations including receiving shipments, stocking and picking items and supplies, and assisting in maintaining adequate stock levels and inventories. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, School Nutrition.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in food distribution, food service, or related experience preferred

• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid forklift operators certification
• Possession of or ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Training certification
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation
• Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Work requires the exertion of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 60 pounds
• Work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, and performing manual tasks
• The worker is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions
