Job summary

Penske Logistics is hiring for a sanitation worker to help keep our Tracy, CA warehouse clean and safe. You will operate cleaning equipment, manage routine sanitation logs, and assist with general warehouse upkeep while following strict food-safety standards.

The role is in a cold storage environment (28° F to 55° F) with a 3pm–3:30am schedule Thu–Sat. The position offers benefits and a $19.57/hr wage plus a $1/hr shift differential.

Qualifications

• No prior warehouse experience required but preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient reading skills and ability to follow directions required.
• Ability to work independently, customer service, dealing with others, multi-tasking skills, organizational skills, flexible, excellent with numbers and time management skills required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, sanitary warehouse and office per company standards.
• Pull pallets and clean/scrub product bays on a rotating basis.
• Clean spills or breakages per food safety standards and determine if items are resalable or disposal.
• Clean break rooms, restrooms, offices, and other areas; complete sanitation logs.
• Operate cleaning equipment and chemicals; use a scrubber and pallet jacks if needed.

Position Summary

Under warehouse supervision, a sanitation worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary warehouse and office in a manner that is consistent with the company's standards of quality and safety, and productivity.

Major Responsibilities

• Proficient in mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, and vacuuming surfaces
• Empties trash bins and cleans trash area daily; operates trash compactor when applicable
• Pulls pallets and clean/scrubs product bays on a rotating basis
• Clean up any spills or breakages to the inventoried product; recoup damages and determine if resalable or must be disposed of per food safety standards and requirements
• Clean other areas of the warehouse and offices, including break rooms, restrooms, offices, etc.
• Complete daily sanitation logs
• Utilize chemicals, detergents, and cleaning equipment
• Operate scrubber and pallet jacks if required to perform duties
• Able to identify and address cleanliness and sanitation issues
• Complies with all safety requirements
• Escalate issues timely and directly to supervisor
• Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location required
• Complete a Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
