General Summary

Responsible for the receiving of incoming materials and shipment of finished products. Stores and maintains accurate inventory. Operates forklift/industrial trucks/pallet jacks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks (depending upon level of position).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Level I

  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program; counts physical inventory.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations.
  • Ensures warehouse is accessible, clean and safe; organizes warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
  • Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders and/or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and/or shipped.
  • Handles hazardous and recycled waste materials.
  • Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
  • Operates a pallet jack, manual or electric.
  • Opens bales, crates and other containers.
  • Reports defective materials and/or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
  • Responsible for making arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase request.
  • Supports received goods and supplies to be used in, or to aid in, the production of goods and the shipment of goods produced destined for sale to our customer base.
  • Provides additional Operations, Production & Shipping support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.

Level II

  • All duties of a Level I Warehouse Worker.
  • Operates forklifts/industrial trucks in a safe manner.
  • Depending on location, performs hazardous materials/dangerous goods (DG) shipping in accordance with IATA, IMO, and DOT regulations, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Performing function in designated system.
    • Performing functions in designated shipping system as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
    • Providing the pertinent completed DG Shipping Declaration to Operator/Carrier.
    • Supporting International DG shipping as needed.
Level III/Lead

  • All duties of a Level II Warehouse Worker.
  • Assists supervisor in providing on-the-job training for new hires.
  • Assists supervisor with managing on-the-floor activities.
  • Serves as main point of contact for Level I and Level II Warehouse Workers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Level I and Level II

  • None

Level III/Lead

  • Organizes and coordinates daily workflow and provides work instruction to Level I and Level II Warehouse Workers; allocates daily the appropriate workload to ensure completion of daily tasks while working closely with management to ensure team duties are accomplished efficiently.
  • Trains new hires.
  • Works with management team to ensure proper coverage for scheduled and/or pending team member time off requests to include other unexpected times for which team members may not be present, including but not limited to sick days.
  • Provides feedback to supervisor regarding attendance and performance of Level I and Level II Warehouse Workers.

Qualifications

Level I

  • Ability to acquire TSA certification (required).
  • Familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database.
  • Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers.
  • Must be capable of estimating weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping.
  • Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
  • Ability to be courteous and establish and maintain effective relationships with both customers and associates.

Level II

  • All qualifications of a Level I Warehouse Worker.
  • Must be familiar with most common material handling equipment and be a licensed forklift truck operator.
  • Depending on location, is trained and certified in hazardous materials/dangerous goods (DG) shipping in accordance with IATA, IMO, and DOT regulations.

Level III/Lead

  • All qualifications of a Level II Warehouse Worker.
  • May be assigned as Certified Forklift Train-the-Trainer.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or sporadic direct supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess strong attention to detail.

Education And/or Experience

Level I

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Six (6) months experience in a manufacturing environment.

Level II

  • All education and/or experience of a Level I Warehouse Worker with an additional six (6) months experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience operating a forklift.
  • Prior experience in hazardous materials a plus.

Level III/Lead

  • All education and/or experience of a Level II Warehouse Worker with an additional two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment and two (2) years of experience operating a forklift.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a lead role in a warehouse environment.

Language Skills

Level I and Level II

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Level III/Lead

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable.
  • Ability to understand PLC software, vision system software or any other new software necessary for product support. Ability to learn new software if specified for application.
  • Must be familiar with RedNA system functionality as related to team members’ completion of duties.

Physical Demands

  • Standing and/or walking for six (6) or more hours per workday.
  • Sitting for two (2) or more hours per workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach and move about the facility.

Work Environment

  • Warehouse environment.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel as needed, including to other local sites.
