Job summary

The Salvation Army in North Gulfport, MS is seeking a part-time warehouse associate for 27.5 hours per week to support our thrift store operations.

You will receive, inspect and sort donated items, prepare display-ready goods, label large items with tickets and prices, and help maintain a clean, orderly warehouse environment. Physical work includes lifting 25-50 lbs and varying shifts within the store’s layout.

• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Willingness to work in a warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to category and condition.
• Selects items suitable for store display and distributes them for sorting/pricing.
• Tags large items and appliances with prices and codes per procedures.
• Lifts and carries items to appropriate destinations for processing, storage or display.
• Maintains warehouse area in a neat, orderly condition and cleans floors, tables and work areas.

Schedule/Hours: Monday-Saturday (Part-time 27.5 hours per week)This position is responsible for:Works in a warehouse environment not performing sorting room duties attached to a Thrift Store; receives, unloads, and unpacks donated items; processes items through the warehouse into the store or sorting area; assists with setting up for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of large items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.Key Responsibilities:Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures.Tags items large items and appliances with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage or displaying in store.Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
