Job summary

The Salvation Army in Wheeling is seeking a part-time Warehouse Associate to sort donated items, price for display, and prepare goods for the floor. You will inspect items, tag them with prices, hang clothing, and help move boxes while keeping the warehouse orderly.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of warehouse or store experience. Benefits include Paid Time Off, retirement savings, supplemental & voluntary life insurance options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in sorting, receiving, storing, loading, and unloading materials is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic warehouse safety practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to category and condition.
• Selects items suitable for display and assigns to the proper area for pricing.
• Tags items with coded tickets and prices; hangs clothes and racks display items.
• Packs items for storage or display; assists in transporting boxes to storage or display areas.
• Maintains a neat, clean warehouse and conducts routine cleaning.
• Assist as a Truck Helper as needed.

Work Location: Wheeling Family StoreWork Schedule: Part-time (up to 28 hours/weekly)Number of Positions: 2This position is responsible for:Receives, sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area. He/she may also act in the capacity of a Truck Helper as needed.Key Responsibilities:Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing, discards items in accordance with established procedures.Tags items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established procedures.Hangs clothes on hangers and places same on clothes racks.Packs items in boxes and marks the boxes, accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.Prepares non-suitable clothes for the bailer.Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing, storage or displaying in store.Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to communicate the English language.Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
