Job summary

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributer, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States.

This position loads bulk and van trailers, fills containers, and conducts warehouse work including shipping and receiving. Responsibilities include operating motorized lifts, handling containers, testing products, maintaining area standards, and performing

Job description

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributer, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. Thousands across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938.

This position loads bulk and van trailers, fills containers, conducts warehouse work including shipping and receiving.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload trucks & rail cars
• Operate motorized lifts
• Handle, label, and fill containers
• Test products to ensure high quality product is made to customer
• Maintain/monitor area standards for cleanliness and operation
• Perform inventory counts
• Participate in emergency response
• Prepare hazardous materials for DOT shipment
• Batch Blending
• IBC washing/reconditioning
• Other duties as required

ABOUT YOU

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a chemical operator or equivalent experience required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) complex and/or technical operations and procedures in terms easily understood by non-technical operators required.
• Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck required
• Ability to comply with all mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process specific training and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team in Level A PPE required.
• Ability to achieve and maintain 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification required
• Ability to lift 50-100 sacks and supersacks on a regular basis required.
• Ability to adjust to work schedule, including weekends and on-call, to meet business need
• Minimum of 6 months of previous MRP or ERP experience preferred; prior JD Edwards experience strongly

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing,
• walking, climbing, bending, pushing, reaching, and pulling
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs and ladders
• Ability to wear PPE and equipment such as safety shoes, face shields, safety glasses, safety
• goggles, hearing protection, gloves and a hard hat; chemical suits and a hair/beard net when
• required
• Ability to safely operate an industrial forklift when required
• Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements (for respirator use, SQF-certified
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
• Willing to work around chemicals and industrial machinery

Expected Compensation: $32.40/hr.

Shift Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm with a rotation of 8:30am-5:00pm for a month once trained.
