Job summary

Hawkins, Inc. is seeking a delivery professional in Minneapolis, MN who will professionally deliver products to customer sites and handle hazardous materials per DOT standards.

You will operate the equipment, complete paperwork, and maintain vehicles, while adhering to company SOPs and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has a Class A CDL with tanker/HAZMAT endorsements, a clean driving record, and familiarity with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years Class A CDL driving experience required.
• Class A CDL with ability to obtain tanker and hazmat endorsements.
• Satisfactory driving record.
• Basic computer skills; MS Office; prior MRP/ERP experience preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing or chemical environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products to internal and external customer sites.
• Know equipment and processes for handling, storing, shipping and transporting hazardous materials per DOT standards.
• Complete shipping/receiving paperwork and inventory/inspection records.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles/equipment.
• Report product safety incidents to supervisor or designated back-up.
• Communicate compliance, safety, and equipment needs.
• Adhere to SOPs and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Hawkins, Inc. is a formulator, manufacturer, blender, distributer, and sales agent for thousands of industrial chemicals and reagent grade laboratory chemicals sold to municipalities and businesses throughout the Central United States. Thousands across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938.

Load and unload trucks to deliver products in a safe, timely and courteous manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Professionally deliver products to internal and external customer sites
• Responsible for knowing the equipment (forklift, hose, pump, etc.) and process operations of handling, storing, shipping and transporting hazardous materials compliant with DOT standards
• Accurately complete required documentation in paper form and/or on a computer, including shipping and receiving paperwork, inventory sheets, inspection reports, etc.
• Provide routine minor maintenance and inspection of vehicles and equipment
• Apply all product quality and safety standards as well as report any product safety incidents to the Supervisor, Manager, or designated back-up (applicable to positions working in accordance with specific plant or company certifications).
• Communicate compliance, safety, and equipment needs as personally identified
• Ability to safely operate independently while adhering to all company Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)s and Complying with all applicable Federal, State, and Corporate environmental, safety and health regulations
• Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.

ABOUT YOU:

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years previous Class A CDL driving experience required
• Currently holding a Class A CDL with ability to obtain tanker and HAZMAT endorsements
• Satisfactory driving records
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office required; prior MRP or ERP experience preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to drive 1-2 overnights per week
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, reaching, and pulling
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs and ladders
• Ability to wear PPE and equipment such as safety shoes, face shields, safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves and a hard hat; chemical suits and a hair/beard net when required
• Ability to safely operate an industrial forklift when required\
• Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements (for respirator use, SQF-certified environments, etc.)
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
• Willing to work around chemicals and industrial machinery

TRAVEL

Travel varies from 0% - 20%

EXPECTED COMPENSATION:

$33.85/hr.
