Job summary

Wegmans is seeking a warehouse selector to support overnight distribution operations. You will accurately select products for Wegmans stores, leveraging attention to detail and teamwork to ensure efficient, safe loading and order accuracy.

As part of the distribution team, you may operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and Vocollect devices, with an emphasis on safety and adherence to quality standards. The role includes lifting 20–25 lbs regularly, with occasional heavier items, and exposure to cold

Qualifications

• Experience operating pallet jack, forklift, and Vocollect.
• Able to lift 20–25 pounds regularly; up to 50+ pounds occasionally.
• Comfort with cold temperatures and warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Build pallets safely and efficiently to maximize trailer space and minimize damage.
• Operate pallet jack, forklift, and Vocollect as required.
• Perform order audits for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain knowledge of product quality standards and requirements.
• Communicate daily quality issues to operations management.
• Maintain cold chain integrity on loads with temperature requirements.

As a warehouse selector on our distribution team, you’ll help deliver exceptional service by accurately and efficiently selecting products for Wegmans stores, using your attention to detail and teamwork skills to ensure success.

Work schedule: Overnight positions consist of four 10-hour shifts per week

What You'll Do

• Ensure pallets of product are built safely and efficiently in a manner that minimizes product damage in transportation and maximizes trailer space
• Safely operate equipment necessary to perform job duties; this may include a forklift, pallet jack, and/or Vocollect
• Perform order audits to determine accuracy and quality
• Maintain knowledge of all quality standards/specifications and requirements for all products
• Inform operations management of daily quality issues using reports as well as other forms of necessary communication
• Maintain the integrity of the cold chain on loads that have temperature requirements
• May work in and have exposure to cold temperatures; lift weight of 20-25 pounds on average with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with operating a pallet jack, forklift, and Vocollect

Note: Frozen positions earn an extra $2.00/hour

Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as heavy. Work includes prolonged walking and standing and frequent heavy lifting, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, in order to assemble store orders in a variety of warehouse settings in a fast paced environment. Work also involves moving containers or cases onto pallets and/or into shipping containers for distribution to the stores. The average weight range of items lifted is 20 – 25 pounds with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high to high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with ambient (60° – 85°) temperatures and may involve exposure to cold (33° – 55°) and/or freezing (-20° – 20°) temperatures. Protective clothing is provided.
