Job summary

J.W. Didado Electric is hiring a Warehouse & Tool Manager in Akron, OH to lead daily warehouse operations, tool and equipment management, and logistics across multiple electrical construction projects.

You will ensure accurate inventory, timely site deliveries, and safe, compliant operations while coordinating with project teams for material needs and workflow optimization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse/logistics management, preferably in construction or electrical contracting.
  • Experience managing tools, equipment tracking systems, or warehouse ERP desired.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, staging, storing, and issuing materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts, audits, and inventory management systems.
  • Oversee organization of warehouse layout, shelving, and material storage to maximize efficiency.
  • Identify obsolete or excess inventory and coordinate returns or stock adjustments.
  • Manage company tools, equipment, and specialty electrical devices including tracking, issuance, and return processes.
  • Maintain a tool/equipment tracking database; ensure accurate assignment to project teams.
  • Oversee repair, calibration, replacement, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and pickups to/from job sites to support project schedules.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to forecast material and tool needs.
  • Ensure timely staging of job-specific material kits for mobilization phases.
  • Monitor consumable inventory levels and coordinate replenishment as needed.
  • Inspect returned tools for proper operation, damage, or safety concerns.
  • Coordinate repairs, calibrations, and preventative maintenance with internal technicians or outside vendors.
  • Maintain documentation of equipment maintenance history, calibration dates, and repair activities.
  • Approve invoices related to warehouse, equipment, and rental services.

Job description

The Warehouse & Tool Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, equipment, tooling, inventory, and logistics functions supporting multiple electrical construction projects. This role ensures efficient material handling, accurate inventory control, timely delivery to job sites, tool maintenance, fleet oversight (where applicable), and adherence to safety standards. The position is vital in optimizing jobsite productivity by keeping materials, tools, and equipment organized, maintained, and readily available.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management
  • Manage daily warehouse operations including receiving, staging, storing, and issuing materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts, audits, and inventory management systems.
  • Oversee organization of warehouse layout, shelving, and material storage to maximize efficiency.
  • Identify obsolete or excess inventory and coordinate returns or stock adjustments.
Tool & Equipment Management
  • Manage company tools, equipment, and specialty electrical devices including tracking, issuance, and return processes.
  • Maintain a tool/equipment tracking database; ensure accurate assignment to project teams.
  • Oversee repair, calibration, replacement, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Recommend new equipment purchases and standardization based on jobsite needs.
Tool Room Operations Management
  • Oversee daily operation of the tool room including issuance, return, inspection, and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain an organized workspace that supports efficient workflow and minimizes loss or damage.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized tool room processes, labeling systems, and tool identification protocols.
Tool Tracking & Inventory Control
  • Maintain an up-to-date tool tracking database (barcode/RFID where applicable).
  • Track tool assignments to employees and jobsites, ensuring accurate documentation at all times.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory audits to identify missing, damaged, or underutilized tools.
  • Monitor consumable inventory levels and coordinate replenishment as needed.
Tool Maintenance & Repairs
  • Inspect returned tools for proper operation, damage, or safety concerns.
  • Coordinate repairs, calibrations, and preventative maintenance with internal technicians or outside vendors.
  • Maintain documentation of equipment maintenance history, calibration dates, and repair activities.
  • Identify tools requiring replacement and recommend procurement based on usage trends and field needs.
Logistics & Jobsite Support
  • Coordinate material deliveries and pickups to/from job sites to support project schedules.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to forecast material and tool needs.
  • Ensure timely staging of job-specific material kits for mobilization phases.
  • Manage warehouse drivers and coordinate delivery routes efficiently.
  • Collaborate with purchasing teams to verify purchase orders, delivery accuracy, and vendor performance.
  • Track tool and material spending; identify cost-savings through procurement strategies.
  • Approve invoices related to warehouse, equipment, and rental services.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce warehouse safety policies, equipment operation standards, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Ensure forklifts, lifts, and other warehouse equipment are inspected and operated safely.
  • Conduct safety meetings, training, and warehouse audits.
  • Supervise warehouse staff including drivers, tool room attendants, and laborers.
  • Provide training, coaching, scheduling, performance management, and workflow oversight.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, organization, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, and handling materials.
  • Ability to work in warehouse environments including varying temperatures.
  • Warehouse-based with routine travel to jobsites as required.
