Interstate Batteries is hiring a Warehouse Team Member I in the San Diego area to accurately handle distribution center tasks using RF barcode scanning, pallet jacks, forklifts, and WMS systems.

The role requires basic schooling (high school diploma), strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn warehouse software and operate material handling equipment. Overtime may be required and safety protocols must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship).
• Load and unload batteries, restock inventories.
• Charge, clean, date, and rewrap rotations; test batteries when applicable.
• Operate a forklift and maintain certification; tag pallets for transfer.

Job DescriptionPurpose of Job:The Warehouse Team Member I has the ability to accurately and efficiently complete assigned distribution center tasks using a variety of equipment including RF barcode scanning devices, material handling equipment - electric and manual pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, WMS applications, and other shipping applications.

Job Components

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• Load and unload batteries
• Restock batteries
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification
• Properly tag pallets (for transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• General warehousing duties (such as restocking shelves and housekeeping of assigned areas)
• Ability to multi-task and/or quickly transition from one function/task to the next function/task
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by warehouse distributor management

Qualifications

• High school graduate
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
• No experience required. Experience in warehouse operations preferred - including RF/HH equipment, forklift, electric pallet jack and stretch-wrap machine preferably in warehouse environment
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems required
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Sense of urgency and well organized

Work Environment

• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs
• Consistent walking or walking during shift
• Repetitive taping of boxes
• Overtime required as deemed necessary
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
