Job summary

Interstate Batteries is seeking a Warehouse Team Member I to accurately perform distribution center tasks using RF scanners and a range of handling equipment. You will handle receiving, picking, packing and shipping activities, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading batteries, restocking inventory, tagging pallets, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. No experience required; training and certification provided for equipment use.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
• No experience required.
• Experience in warehouse operations preferred – RF/HH equipment, forklift, electric pallet jack and stretch-wrap machine.
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Sense of urgency and well organized.

Job description

Purpose of Job

The Warehouse Team Member I has the ability to accurately and efficiently complete assigned distribution center tasks using a variety of equipment including RF barcode scanning devices, material handling equipment - electric and manual pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, WMS applications, and other shipping applications.

Job Components

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• Load and unload batteries
• Restock batteries
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification
• Properly tag pallets (for transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• General warehousing duties (such as restocking shelves and housekeeping of assigned areas)
• Ability to multi-task and/or quickly transition from one function/task to the next function/task
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by warehouse distributor management

Scope Data

Interacts professionally within the warehouse distributor team. Interacts professionally with all other departments and team members. Accountable for individual accuracy and commitment to learning from mistakes. Operate with integrity and demonstrate a positive attitude.

Work Environment

• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs
• Consistent walking or walking during shift
• Repetitive taping of boxes
• Overtime required as deemed necessary
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
