Job summary

Midland Scientific, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Shipping Clerk in Nebraska to verify and record shipments, prepare items for dispatch, and ensure accurate packing and labeling.

You will examine orders, generate bills of lading, route materials, and maintain inventory accuracy with duties typically completed within 24 hours of packing lists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of warehouse experience preferred; shipping experience preferred.
• Ability to adapt easily to new systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Examine contents and compare with records to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
• Prepare documents such as bills of lading and shipping labels to route materials.
• Record shipment data (weight, charges, space, damages) for reporting and records.
• Determine shipping method using knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates.
• Deliver or route materials to departments using hand trucks or conveyors.
• Pack, seal, label and affix postage for shipping per UPS/FedEx systems.
• Communicate with carriers to arrange shipping and delivery; rectify problems.
• Requisition and store shipping materials to maintain stock inventory.
• Unpack received shipments and transfer stock to correct shelves.
• Accurately pick and pack customer orders within 24 hours.

Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material; arranging for the transportation of products.

Essential Functions

• Examine contents and compare with records such as purchase orders, orders, packing lists, manifests, or invoices, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
• Prepare documents, such as bills of lading and shipping labels to route materials.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
• Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
• Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools and UPS or FedEx computer systems.
• Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
• Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
• Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list.
• Unpack received shipments and organize - transferring stock items to correct shelves.
• Accurately pick and pack customer orders within 24 hours of the printed packing list.
• Perform routine cycle counts to ensure inventory is correct. Address and correct incorrect inventory counts.
• Repackage specified materials into approved containers while observing all OSHA safety regulations.
• Deliver "our carry" deliveries to customers and get a signature from the customer for proof of delivery.

Salary Description

$20- $24 per hour
