Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel’s Contract Logistics team in the United States seeks an Outbound Team Lead to coordinate daily operations within the HAI automation area. You will lead a team, monitor performance, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time shipping across the outbound process.

You will collaborate with IT and leadership to resolve system issues, train staff, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining 5S standards and strong service levels with customers.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, distribution, logistics, or operations leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with warehouse management systems, dashboards, and operational reporting tools.
• Working knowledge of safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily staffing rosters, verify attendance, and track headcount.
• Lead shift-start meetings to review volume forecasts, priorities, safety, and team communication.
• Escalate attendance, staffing, and personnel concerns as needed.
• Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
• Ensure associates are trained and qualified to perform duties.
• Provide coaching and support to drive performance and continuous improvement.
• Monitor daily performance through HAI, MH, and operational reporting tools.
• Ensure service levels and customer requirements are met.
• Communicate operational risks and coordinate resources to prevent disruptions.
• Partner with IT and support teams to resolve system issues and root cause analysis.
• Assist with corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
• Coordinate outbound dock activities to ensure trailers are loaded safely and on schedule.
• Conduct end-of-shift inspections to ensure 5S standards and safe work areas.
• Promote compliance with all safety policies.

The HAI Outbound Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and leading daily outbound operations within the HAI (ASRS) automation area. This role provides frontline leadership to associates, ensures operational goals and service level commitments are achieved, promotes a safety-first culture, and serves as a key point of contact between operations, IT, and leadership teams.

How you create impact

Team Leadership & Communication

• Maintain daily staffing rosters, verify attendance, and track headcount.
• Lead shift-start meetings to review volume forecasts, operational priorities, safety expectations, and team communication.
• Escalate attendance, staffing, and personnel concerns as needed.
• Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.

Training & Development

• Ensure associates are trained and qualified to perform assigned duties.
• Provide coaching and support to drive performance and continuous improvement.

Operational Performance

• Monitor daily performance through HAI, Manhattan (MH), and operational reporting tools.
• Ensure service levels and customer requirements are met.
• Communicate operational risks and coordinate resources to prevent service disruptions.

System & Process Support

• Partner with IT and support teams to resolve system issues and problem orders.
• Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize disruptions.

Shipping & Dock Operations

• Ensure packages are accurately sorted and routed according to shipping requirements.
• Coordinate outbound dock activities to ensure trailers are loaded safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Safety, Quality & Housekeeping

• Conduct end-of-shift inspections to ensure packages are cleared, work areas meet 5S standards, and equipment is secure.
• Promote compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
