Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Griffin, GA is seeking a Logistics Team Lead for 1st shift to coordinate workflow and supervise warehousing activities at the Griffin facility.

As a Logistics Team Lead at Caterpillar, you will assist the Section Manager in coordinating workflow, promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing daily priorities, etc., and you will also be performing various warehousing functions at the Griffin, GA facility.

Additional Information: This role is for 1st Shift Monday-Thursday, 6:30am – 5:00pm Relocation assistance is not offered for this position. Candidates must be able to read, write and conduct business in English. Ability to work overtime when required.

What You Will Do
  • Establish daily priorities, providing feedback to supervisory team on employee performance
  • Perform and/or coordinate the employee training on work techniques and promote continuous improvement.
  • Assist the Section Manager in performing the material handling and warehousing functions required in inbound, outbound and other operational functions.
  • Verify quantities, count parts, fill orders, package parts, etc.
  • Maintain related records or reports as required and resolve discrepancies where needed
  • Access and update information for receiving, counting, and order processing
  • Perform and assign housekeeping functions; use mobile equipment as required facilitating job functions
  • Report defects and need for repairs on mobile equipment by following safety procedures
  • Assist the Warehouse Associates in resolving various work‑related issues
Physical Skills
  • Willing and able to frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15 to 30 minutes
  • Willing and able to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
  • Willing and able to walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes

Intermediate proficiency (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

What You Have
  • Safety: Conducts daily maintenance and keeps tracking safety logs on equipment. Inspects working environment to promote safe work area. Utilizes personal protective equipment required or recommended for task at hand. Speak up if safety concerns are encountered, appropriate escalation if needed.
  • Warehouse Management: Directs, leads, and is able to perform basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing and shipping merchandise. Maintains item and inventory management records. Helps minimize bottlenecks and delays and the resulting impact on operating costs. Trains and assists with problem solving related to the use of real‑time inventory software, to move materials where needed.
  • Customer Service Management: Demonstrates an understanding of the underlying concepts and values of a service organization. Seeks help, as needed, in satisfying customers. Identifies key characteristics of effective customer service. Cites examples of keeping the customer as the focal point of all team activity.
  • Coaching Others: Determines how coaching can be applied to a situation to help others to improve their skills. Observes skill practice; offers constructive feedback. Offers suggestions for performance or process improvement. Creates skill‑practice opportunities for subject of coaching. Come to work with a positive attitude and ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Effective Communications: Uses verbal and non‑verbal communication to receive direction and share ideas and job‑related needs. Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position. Maintains focus on the topic at hand. Leads process improvement dialogue as needed.

  • Starting wage is $22.57/hour (additional night shift premium for off shifts).

Summary Pay Range: $22.57 - $29.39
