Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking a Warehouse Supply Technician to manage the storage, stocking, and distribution of medical supplies across the main campus. You will support clinics and patient care floors, pull and stage items for off-campus departments, and ensure accurate inventory through the MMIS system.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and familiarity with MMIS; a certification related to the duties is preferred.

General Purpose of Job

Under the general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Supply Technician is responsible for the following: properly storing, stocking, and distributing medical supplies, restocking the par locations located on each patient care floor, the delivery of supplies to clinics and all other departments throughout the main campus of the hospital, and the pulling and staging of supplies ordered by off campus clinics and departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Warehouse and Distribution Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or the Director
  • Report any safety concerns regarding the warehouse or warehouse supplies
  • Use and be fully trained to use handheld scanning units for supply replenishment
  • Use and be fully trained with MMIS system; able to search, find data such as inventory stock on hand, perform a quick issue, and do returns/credits to departments
  • Replenish assigned supply areas according to schedule and complete all the appropriate transactions in the MMIS system
  • Recommend that supply max/min (par) levels be adjusted based on usage; obtain feedback from department personnel, which may result in a change to the levels.
  • PAR levels should be set at a level high enough to provide a minimum of fourteen days of usage.
  • Process daily supply requisitions using the MMIS system.
  • Pick, pull, and deliver supplies to the requesting department.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and ensure customers are served timely
  • Put away freight as instructed or scheduled ensuring that shelves are well-stocked (work out overstock).
  • Verify packing slips (when receiving cannot) to actual shipment received and report any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Must be able to operate a pallet jack and a bailer
  • Break down boxes and ensure work area is free and clear of trash.
  • Communicate with the supervisor and/or buyer when taking the last item or when critical items are at a low stock level (use stock out process)
  • Monitor and rotate stock in assigned areas to prevent obsolescence and reduce spoilage
  • Perform periodic cycle supply counts as assigned and/or during the General Store annual physical inventory
  • Follows all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering, and handling equipment supplies.
  • Maintains supply rooms, and storeroom keeping them clean, neat, and orderly
  • Check assigned sections in the warehouse for expired or soon to be expired supplies
  • Check emails at least once during the morning and again in the afternoon
  • Logistics Coordinate the schedules for items being moved from the warehouse to other locations, working with drivers and end users to ensure the prompt and safe delivery of goods.
  • Work with inventory “owners” to ensure that items do not sit unused.
  • Support the Finance Department with equipment inventory of items stored at the warehouse.
  • Ensure timely and cooperative inter/intra departmental relationships and communication through the entire health system including external customers/partners i.e. contractors, vendors, etc.
  • Respond promptly to emergency requests involving essential supplies or equipment.
  • Respond to after-hours calls and requests.
  • Participate in group meetings, special projects, safety calls as needed or assigned.
  • Identify and promptly report any warehouse safety hazards or concerns involving fleet vehicles, equipment, inventory, or the facility.
  • Operate handheld scanning devices accurately and efficiently for inventory replenishment and tracking
  • Process supply requests using designated inventory management software, ensuring the timely retrieval and delivery of materials.
  • Respond promptly to telephone inquiries and provide courteous, efficient customer service.
  • Safely operate pallet jack, bailer and other warehouse equipment in accordance with established safety guidelines.
  • Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes and other packaging materials while maintaining a clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Monitor inventory levels and product conditions to minimize waste, prevent obsolescence, and reduce spoilage.
  • Follow all applicable infection prevention and control procedures when handling, storing, and delivering medical supplies and equipment.
  • Report facility maintenance issues and warehouse deficiencies including leaks, damaged flooring, or other conditions requiring repair.
  • Operate a box truck as needed.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections, maintenance checks, and maintain mileage records.
  • May on occasion be required to work at the general supply warehouse or deliver supplies to outlying facilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED required, additional certification relevant to the job duties from a college or technical school preferred; minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have an active unrestricted Driver’s License Until all children are well.
