Job summary

Wagner Logistics in Monroe, LA is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee receiving, warehousing and shipping operations under guidance from the Warehouse Manager. You will supervise hourly staff, manage scheduling, and ensure safety and inventory integrity.

The role requires at least 1 year supervising warehouse staff, familiarity with WMS and MS Office, and a strong focus on efficiency, accuracy, and customer service. On-site position with travel as needed.

Description

Summary: The Warehouse Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, effective warehouse operations under the Warehouse Manager's guidance. This position is responsible for overseeing the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products while maintaining service quality and cost control.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Shipping and Receiving:

Coordinate inbound and outbound scheduling with transportation providers.

Supervise the unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of products, and the staging of outbound shipments, ensuring high accuracy and productivity.

Verify inbound and outbound documents with drivers, ensuring accurate counts and inspecting for damage.

Customer Service:

Understand and communicate customer service requirements to all personnel.

Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests or concerns.

Equipment Management:

Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material-handling equipment.

Remove unsafe equipment from service and arrange necessary repairs.

Scheduling:

Establish work schedules for personnel and manage employee time and attendance.

Assign work effectively and ensure timely completion.

Schedule overtime as needed to meet customer service requirements.

Storage and Inventory:

Maintain proficiency in the warehouse management system.

Manage the product locator system and optimize space utilization through consolidation.

Rotate products as required and maintain inventory integrity.

Assist in physical inventory counts.

Safety, Sanitation, and Security:

Ensure compliance with security policies to protect employees, customers, visitors, inventory, and property.

Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.

Promote safe working habits and enforce company safety rules.

Conduct regular safety meetings and weekly safety contacts.

Investigate accidents and personal injuries.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Personnel Management:

Direct warehouse operations to achieve productivity objectives and performance metrics.

Apply effective communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling, and disciplining subordinates.

Enforce company rules and participate in performance appraisals.

Evaluate personnel for training needs, wage increases, and promotions.

Assist in the hiring and selection of warehouse staff.

Records Management:

Complete required records and reports accurately and in a timely manner.

Process customer returns as prescribed.

Communications:

Conduct shift meetings and keep warehouse personnel informed.

Act as a liaison between employees and top management.

Interact with the warehouse management team, customer service, and vendors.

Travel:

This position requires occasional travel (10–25%) to support operations at other Wagner Logistics facilities, attend meetings, participate in training, assist with start-ups or customer implementations, conduct audits, and provide operational support as business needs dictate. Travel may include day trips and occasional overnight stays. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel independently are required.

What You Need:

A. Education: High school diploma or GED required; some college or college degree preferred.

B. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience supervising an hourly warehouse workforce.

C. Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Effective supervisory skills with a successful track record in warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with personal computers, warehouse management systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership, planning, interviewing, staffing, team building, organizing, controlling, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) & inventory management software: Competent with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and kneel for up to 12-hour periods repetitively.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including heat, cold, wet, damp, and drafty conditions.
  • Work on concrete and uneven surfaces.
  • May be required to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Work around hazardous materials and potential exposure to carcinogens, toxins, and explosive materials.
  • Possible exposure to high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights.
  • Utilize muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
