Job summary

Wagner Logistics in Utah is seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee all warehouse operations, safety, and customer service. You will plan, organize, direct, and control activities, lead staff development, and partner with senior management to meet performance goals and ROI targets.

The role requires 3+ years in a similar position, strong leadership, and proven ability to manage budgeting, inventory control, and compliance with OSHA and company policies. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular contact with customers and conduct staff meetings to organize warehouse activities.
  • Develop and enforce systems and procedures for warehouse operations and HR support to meet goals.
  • Plan and implement operations and administrative support to meet productivity and service goals.
  • Promote safe work habits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Direct the warehouse team to achieve objectives and oversee hiring, training, and development programs.
  • Assist IT with warehouse management system implementations and maintain knowledge of systems.

Description

Summary: The Warehouse Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the warehouse, encompassing operations, safety, customer service, office functions, security, and regulatory compliance. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all warehouse activities. Key responsibilities include all personnel selection, professional development, and motivation. The Warehouse Manager collaborates with senior management to set performance objectives and contribute to strategic planning, ensuring the achievement of company goals related to customer service, safety, quality assurance, cost control, inventory management, productivity, security, profit, and return on investment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Communications

  • Engage with Senior Management, Corporate Staff, Safety personnel, IT and Engineering teams, Logistics Management, Sales & Marketing personnel, and Equipment and Facility Maintenance staff.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers.
  • Conduct management and staff meetings to organize warehouse activities.

Operations

  • Develop and enforce systems and procedures for warehouse operations, including material handling, transportation equipment, and human resources.
  • Plan and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet productivity and service goals.
  • Promote safe work habits to prevent injuries and property damage.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing business operations.

Labor Management

  • Direct the warehouse team to achieve set objectives.
  • Use effective communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates.
  • Assist Human Resources in creating hiring, training, and professional development programs.
  • Recommend promotions, wage increases, or terminations as necessary.

Information Technology

  • Assist the VP of IT with the implementation of warehouse management information systems.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company and customer warehouse management systems.

Customer Service

  • Oversee the establishment and communication of customer service standards for all accounts.
  • Ensure customers receive the required level of service and quality.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with customers and respond to requests as needed.

Budgeting

  • Develop and recommend an annual operating budget.
  • Manage controls to ensure service levels and performance goals are met within cost, revenue, and profit parameters.
  • Negotiate best value with vendors for services and supplies.
  • Work with corporate accounting to prepare accurate Profit and Loss Statements and Customer Profitability Reports.
  • Ensure accounts meet predetermined profit standards.

Equipment & Facilities

  • Develop and enforce programs for equipment and facility maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures to protect employees, visitors, merchandise, equipment, and property.
  • Monitor equipment usage and justify additional or replacement equipment for efficient and cost-effective operations.

3-5 years: Customer-Facing Operations - Experience working directly with customers to resolve operational issues, meet service level agreements (SLAs), and build long-term business relationships. Experience supporting new business implementations is a plus.

3-5 years: P&L, Budget, and KPI Management - Experience managing operating budgets and improving key performance indicators such as productivity, labor costs, inventory accuracy, quality, customer service, safety, and profitability.

3-5 years: People Management - Proven experience leading supervisors and hourly employees, including hiring, coaching, performance management, employee relations, and succession planning.

3-5 years: Warehouse or Distribution Center Leadership - Experience managing day-day warehouse operations in a distribution, manufacturing, or 3PL environment, including inbound, outbound, inventory, and shipping/receiving.
