Job summary

SEARHC in Alaska seeks a senior Inventory Manager to oversee the consortium-wide PAR inventory system in Lawson, align stock with financial targets, and optimize PAR levels across locations. You will manage counts, valuations, and LEAN improvements while coordinating with clinical staff on backorders.

The role requires leadership of warehouse teams, adherence to policies, and travel to clinics as needed. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in healthcare purchasing is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/related field or six years of healthcare purchasing/inventory experience.
  • Experience with Lawson or PAR inventory management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting, purchasing, or inventory ERP systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains PAR inventory control processes and policies.
  • Maintains PAR inventory levels and manages min/max and reorder points.
  • Conducts physical inventories and PAR valuation reporting.
  • Optimizes inventory levels for store and PAR items.
  • Tracks daily metrics and reports variances to management.
  • Coordinates backorders with clinical staff and approves substitutes when needed.
  • Implements LEAN principles to reduce waste and improve cycle time.
  • Travel to outlying clinics to assess PAR inventories.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel including recruitment, training, scheduling, and appraisals.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, or related discipline
High School Diploma with 6 years purchasing/inventory control experience substitution

Job description

Pay Range:$29.11 - $40.85Oversees the daily operations of SEARHC’s consortium-wide PAR Inventory Management system in Lawson including, reviewing daily reporting to ensure timely scanning and delivery of supplies to PAR locations as well as periodic analysis of supply utilization to make recommendations for changes in standard PAR levels.

Position may require heavy lifting and/or moving items up to 500 pounds.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Develops and maintains PAR inventory control processes and policy that result in aligning supply needs with inventory financial targets.

Maintains appropriate PAR Inventory and on-hand supply levels, including management of min/max and reorder points.

Manages physical inventories and cycle counts and PAR valuation reporting.

Optimizes inventory levels for all Store items and PAR inventory items.

Monitors daily critical metrics/benchmarks (i.e., inventory valuation, adjustments) reporting any identified variances to management/supervision.

Coordinates with clinical staff all backorders and assists in the approval of substitute items for backorder supplies when required.

Implements “LEAN Principles” for the Supply Chain to continuously improve and to reduce and eliminate waste to improve cycle time, reduce labor and staff costs, and/or improve product quality and deliveries.

Eliminates non-value-added steps and waste in product storage processes, including receiving, put-away/storing, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, excess inventories which require additional space and reduce warehousing efficiency, and excess motion and handling.

Travels as necessary to outlying clinics to assess and adjust PAR inventories.

Coordinates and assists in regular inventory counts at all consortium locations, with the frequency defined by director and key customers.

Works with Supply Chain Analyst, General Accounting and other key stakeholders to ensure the inventory is accurately stated on the Consortium balance sheet.

Identifies trends in expired supplies and will work with key stakeholders to correct root cause of waste.

Prepares and distributes to management monthly benchmark reports on all supply activities and provides technical advice and resources to all Departments on matters concerning PAR Inventory needs.

Works with supply chain analyst to track and monitor inventory turnover rates to recommend adjustments to minimums and maximums as well as recommendations for department process improvement.

Upon approval through Value Analysis/Standardization Committee, processes new inventory item requests.

Coordinates the technical objectives of Inventory Management and Warehouse Operations, including managing the stock all warehouse locations to keep stock levels at sufficient quantities to be able to get supplies to all locations and departments across the Consortium timely.

Directs the daily activities of all warehouse and PAR personnel including but not limited to developing position descriptions, recruitment (hire or terminate), performance appraisals, training, scheduling, leave approval, timesheet approval and adherence to all policies and procedures.

Move items up to 500 pounds.

Lift heavy items.

Additional Details:

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, or related discipline or

High School Diploma (or equivalent) and six years of experience in Purchasing and Inventory Control Systems in a Healthcare setting can be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement.

Experience Required

Experience using Lawson or inventory control/PAR management solutions preferred.

Knowledge of

Accounting, purchasing, or inventory ERP computer systems

Effectively managing staffing and timelines to ensure timely performance of day-to-day activities within the department
