Job summary

Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to oversee inventory control, staff scheduling, and cross-functional coordination in our Wisconsin plant operations. The role emphasizes maintaining accurate records, meeting production goals, and enforcing GMP standards.

The ideal candidate will have a GED or higher, 3 years of supervisory experience, and 5 years in dairy or food production. On-site responsibilities may include weekend shifts and forklift training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, supply-chain management, or similar areas preferred.
  • Three years of supervisory experience required.
  • Five years of experience in dairy or food production, manufacturing, or industrial process operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and maintain an accurate and efficient inventory system.
  • Monitor processes and procedures to meet production goals.
  • Interview, train, develop, schedule and monitor employees in the shipping department.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Complete cycle counts as required.
  • Follow up on work orders and ensure prompt issuance and completion.
  • Maintain good working relationships with suppliers, patrons, employees, and customers.
  • Be on call and able to come into the plant outside normal shifts or weekends.
  • Obtain forklift certification and train employees on forklifts.
  • Work with the plant to reduce under-grade product, foreign material, and quality complaints.
  • Inspect, review, and follow up on plant and department audits.
  • Emphasize GMP compliance.
  • Cross-train with receiving department to provide coverage.

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

  11. 11. Play an active role in inspecting, reviewing, and following up on all plant and department audits.
  12. 12. Emphasize, train, and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  13. 13. Crosstrain with the receiving department to provide coverage as needed.
  14. 14. Other duties as assigned.
