Job summary

Sonoco Milwaukee is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to lead the plant warehouse operations, manage a team of ~14 forklift operators, and ensure accurate inventory across multiple locations. You will coordinate inbound/outbound shipments with logistics, review bills of lading, and uphold safety and SQF guidelines in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The role requires an Associate's degree and 4+ years of leadership experience in warehousing, with ERP experience (Oracle/QAD/SAP).

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of warehouse, logistics, inventory, or related leadership experience.
  • Experience managing inventory across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Strong warehouse operations background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with HAZMAT shipping requirements, DOT, and RCRA.
  • Prior forklift experience.
  • Experience and proficient working knowledge of ERP systems managing inventory and logistics (Oracle, QAD, SAP).
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, participating in monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required.
  • Supervises and coordinates the employees and activities of the plant warehouse function (and local outside warehouse, if applicable) as directed.
  • Supervises and develops a team of approximately 14 forklift operators.
  • Collaborates with internal and external logistics teams in an efficient manner to coordinate consistent flow of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Reviews and compiles bills of lading for completeness and accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Facilitates shipments of finished product and scrap.
  • Assists with inventory status of finished goods and packaging materials.
  • Manages inventory accuracy across internal, external, and customer inventory locations.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels to support customer demand and plant operations.
  • Coordinates customer orders, inventory levels, and shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinates customer releases and orders with outside warehouse and other plants within the group and assists in procuring transportation for customer and warehouse shipments of finished products.
  • Enters shipping releases into the MFG PRO and OTM systems as required.
  • Ensures that all company property is properly maintained.
  • Facilitates training for subordinates, including but not limited to forklift training, BOL shipment printing, and QAD transactions.
  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
  • Directly coordinates with packaging sort houses and packaging demand planners to ensure the plant maintains adequate packaging inventory to sustain production.
  • Maintains internal warehouse utilization at a goal of greater than 90%. Manages FIFO for shipments and consumption.
  • Maintains direct support to all departments in the plant via material handling.
  • Works in a productive and proactive manner with cross-functional teams such as logistics, customer service, and production.
  • Supports a 24-hour manufacturing operation and provides occasional off-shift support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Standard 8-hour day shift, 40-hour work week.

Flexibility to adjust hours based on business needs.

Occasional off-shift involvement may be required to support a 24-hour operation.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $82,400 - $92,700, plus annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
