Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking a Distribution Center Operations Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, staffing, safety, quality, and budget management at a global distribution center supporting PGA.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to drive improvements, ensure service levels, and support employee development. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years in large-scale logistics, strong leadership, and experience with AS400 and RF/bar‑coding systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in management or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in large-scale automated distribution or logistics operations with budget responsibility.
  • Experience leading employees, managing performance, and developing staff.
  • Experience with workplace safety programs and OSHA standards.
  • Strong communication across multiple levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily department operations and special projects to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and order fulfillment objectives.
  • Manage departmental performance through monitoring and improvement of processes and metrics.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor budgets including labor, packing, maintenance, and related costs.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and drive improvements for decision-making.
  • Coordinate workforce planning, scheduling, training, and staffing coverage.
  • Supervise employees including performance management and coaching.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new staff with effective orientation.
  • Establish performance goals and conduct evaluations.
  • Collaborate with HR and staffing agencies to maintain staffing levels.
  • Communicate priorities and initiatives to employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees as a department representative.
  • Maintain payroll and personnel records and documentation.

Position Overview

You will lead daily operations within a global distribution center supporting Polaris’ Parts, Garments and Accessories (PGA) business. In this role, you will oversee warehouse operations, employee performance, safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and budget management to ensure departmental objectives are achieved. You will partner with cross‑functional teams and frontline leaders to drive operational improvements, maintain service levels, and support employee development. You will play a key role in creating an efficient, safe, and productive work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and operational standards. This position offers the opportunity to make a measurable impact on distribution performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily department operations and special projects to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and order fulfillment objectives.
  • Manage departmental performance through the monitoring and improvement of operational processes, workflows, and performance metrics.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, including labor, packaging, maintenance, and related operating expenses.
  • Analyze operational data and reports to identify trends, drive improvements, and support business decision‑making.
  • Partner with Group Leads to coordinate workforce planning, scheduling, training, overtime assignments, shift rotations, and staffing coverage.
  • Supervise employees in accordance with company policies, including performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and employee development.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new employees while ensuring effective orientation and job readiness.
  • Establish departmental and individual performance goals and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and staffing agencies to maintain appropriate staffing levels and support workforce needs.
  • Communicate operational priorities, performance expectations, and organizational initiatives to employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate on cross‑functional committees and teams as a representative of the department.
  • Maintain required payroll, personnel, and operational records and documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in large‑scale automated distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics operations with budget responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading employees, managing performance, and supporting employee development.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with experience identifying root causes and implementing sustainable, metrics‑driven solutions.
  • Experience managing workplace safety programs and applying OSHA standards within an operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences across multiple organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of distribution center operations, including logistics, fulfillment, warehouse operations, and facilities support.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and quality‑management capabilities.
  • Experience with AS400, RF/bar‑coding technology, and material handling or sortation systems preferred.
  • Ability to work in a distribution and office environment and lift materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities simultaneously.
