Job summary

Job description

The McPherson Companies

To oversee all warehouse functions including receiving, stocking, shipping, monitoring inventory, maintaining and organizing the facility and assisting the Warehouse Manager in all of their respective duties. The schedule for this position is open and flexible: night shift; Sunday through Saturday.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Work with Warehouse Manager to maintain inventory levels that will assure uninterruptible supply for our customer base and achieve optimum inventory investment.
  • Monitor replenishment needs daily and continually monitor bulk tanks, truck and rail car movements.
  • Identify appropriate bin and staging areas and ensure proper stock for pails, drums, package, bulk, and totes are maintained in the assigned areas within the warehouse to optimize facility.
  • Perform monthly cycle counts and organize personnel for all quarterly inventories as required.
  • Check inventory receipt documents and advise any discrepancies to management in a timely manner. Including timely receipt of the same into the computer system.
  • Train personnel in proper standard operating procedures.
  • Identify old and slow inventory and advise management in a timely manner.
  • Assist drivers with loading their trucks as required and assist pick-up customers in a prompt, safe and courteous manner.
  • Sort and stage package products for the next day's shift and routes.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC and logs (sample, receiving, packaging).
  • Prepare stock and paperwork for intercompany loads, including a daily check of inventory levels for bulk and package.
  • Timely communications with Operations Personnel, Dispatchers, Fleet Maintenance Manager and assist them as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and perform training on monthly topics within the given time frame.
  • Monitor employees weekly time worked, and assure that all shifts have adequate coverage.
  • Assist in the application of JD Edwards with all personnel.
  • Produce all daily fleet planning and build all necessary work for personnel.
  • Assist in achieving all warehouse related KPI goals on a monthly basis.
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years warehouse experience
  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse lead or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Inventory and Warehouse Management systems
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop and climb.
  • Ability to move full oil drums.
  • Have the ability and be qualified to operate a forklift.
  • Have a valid Driver's License. Prefer a valid CDL license.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs.
Position Competencies:
  • Ability to make independent fact-based decisions in a quick and responsive manner with little to no supervision.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have successfully demonstrated the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advance computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous sophisticated ERP system experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude during all internal and external customer interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, problem solving, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive work environment and culture while meeting customer expectations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and achieve department objectives.
  • Ability to make recommendations and interact with all levels of management, customers, and vendors.
  • Self-starter and independent thinker with the ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.
  • Proven experience identifying problems of varying complexities and finding effective solutions with few guidelines.
  • Responsive to the needs of internal and external customers with a sense of urgency and commitment to follow up.
  • Solid customer experience skills and ability to build value added relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and listening skills.
Working Conditions:

The work of this position is performed in both inside and outside environments in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. The position requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing are also required. In this position, associates may be exposed to hazardous materials, vapors, fumes, and extreme weather conditions. Proper PPE is provided for employees working in these conditions.
