Job summary

Richelieu is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor in the Detroit area to lead a team responsible for shipping/receiving, picking/packing, and put-away. You will report to the Warehouse Manager and drive day-to-day operations, safety, and process improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, experience with inventory management, cycle counting, logistics, forklift operations, and a hands-on approach to KPI-driven results. The position emphasizes teamwork and adherence to Richelieu’s core values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team covering shipping/receiving and picking/packing/put-away.
  • Train, coach, plan and assign daily work; enforce safety and policies; conduct performance reviews.
  • Improve productivity, quality, and customer service by implementing Warehouse Management System improvements.
  • Maintain organized floor space and adhere to warehouse design principles; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance; respond to breakdowns.
  • Keep knowledge up-to-date through learning opportunities and uphold Richelieu’s core values.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital role charged with the management of both people and processes, the Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehousing activities including shipping/receiving and picking/packing. This person will report directly to the Warehouse Manager.

  • Lead a team that covers the areas of shipping/receiving and picking/packing/put-away
  • Responsible for training, coaching, planning and assigning daily work, ensuring safety rules and other policies/procedures are adhered to, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems
  • Meet warehouse operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews, implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems and identifying warehouse system improvements
  • Maintain warehouse by keeping floor space organized, adhere to warehouse design principles, and recommend improvement opportunities
  • Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, handling preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
  • Stay up to date with job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities

  • Perform any other related duties assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Position may require lifting/pushing/carrying items up to 50 pounds, working around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience in a similar management position
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with inventory management, cycle counting, logistics, forklift operation, and warehouse management
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) oriented, well organized
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience
