Position & Overview

Warehouse Specialist, Transportation/Warehouse Department. Report to: Distribution Center Supervisor. Status: Non-Exempt.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in general warehouse operations by performing assigned duties in the warehouse, post‑consumer sorting of commodities, outlet rotation and tipping.
• Accurately complete paperwork including truck manifest forms, powered industrial equipment inspections, and SAP scanning.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of dust, debris, loose clothing and hazards during and at the end of each shift.
• Receive goods from the general public: greet and assist donors, unload donations, provide receipts, determine acceptability according to criteria, reject unusable items tactfully, provide tax information per guidelines, maintain excellent public relations, sort donations into proper containers, remove trash, and complete all necessary paperwork such as daily donor logs, donor receipts, etc.; keep donation site clear and clean at all times.
• Present an appropriate appearance and demonstrate good customer service to the general public and coworkers.
• Promote an environment of workplace safety and ensure duties are performed safely and safety requirements are adhered to.
• Communicate progress, concerns and issues to the Distribution Center Supervisor in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• No formal education necessary.
• Must be able to read, write and perform simple math.
• Must present a neat appearance and effectively communicate with the general public.
• Must be able to work with equipment such as pallet jacks, trash compactors, balers and operate equipment following all safety guidelines at all times.
• Must have the flexibility to work overtime and varied hours, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in all weather extremes.
• Ability to work around dust, dirt, fumes and varied noise levels.
• Ability to walk and stand for a full day.
• Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
• Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, reach, and bend.
• Ability to bend, kneel and stoop to open and close doors and secure loads for 10% of the shift.
• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to push and pull various carts requiring a force of 50 pounds a distance of 150 feet for 25% of the shift.
• Ability to push and pull manual pallet jacks with gaylords or other material requiring an initial force of 60 pounds and distance of 100 feet for 25% of the shift.
• Ability to push and pull the speed lift requiring an initial force of 60 pounds a distance of 20 feet up to four times per shift.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds from ground level to waist level frequently for more than 75% of the shift.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds from ground level to waist level once per shift.
• Ability to step up 24 inches onto forklifts and/or truck cab steps for 10% of the shift.
• Visual and hearing acuity (with correction) that meets standard vision and hearing test criteria.
