Job description

Job Title: Warehouse Specialist I – Entry Level

Location: Rusk State Hospital, Rusk, TX

We are looking for a Warehouse Specialist I to support patients and residents across Texas. The role is entry-level and offers opportunities for growth within Supply Services.

Shift and Schedule

Day shift, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Up to 15% travel required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Reviews system-generated picking tickets, verifies picking lists, and stages delivered items for safe maneuvering.
  • Loads and unloads warehouse stock using lifting equipment; puts away stock into assigned racking and delivers items to ordering departments using a state vehicle.
  • Unloads vendor freight trucks, verifies shipments against purchase orders, and inspects items for compliance or damage using dock equipment.
  • Enters data into the MIMS automated inventory control computer program for inventory tracking, assists with inventories, reconciles variances, and maintains inventory of warehouse stock supplies.
  • Enters data into the CAPPS Financial system for accurate and timely receiving of warehouse stock and non‑stock items.
  • Participates in COOP plans and other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, issuing, customer service, and inventory control.
  • Ability to operate mechanical lifting devices for moving and delivering goods.
  • Ability to review warehouse rules, regulations, and policies for compliance.
  • Ability to use a handheld device for managing warehouse stock and receiving goods.
  • Computer skills using inventory control and receiving software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications & Initial Screening Criteria
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
  • Experience using computer inventory control and receiving software.
  • Warehouse or inventory control related experience preferred.
  • Prior experience operating a forklift and other material handling equipment preferred.
Licensure & Certifications

Valid Class C Driver’s License (Texas preferred). Forklift Driver Training – SAF0100 required within 3 months of employment.
