Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, store, and inventory state goods; manage records and data entry.
- Organize deliveries, process loading orders, and transport goods to state buildings.
- Operate automated equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and dolly vehicles.
- Assist in planning warehouse layout and maintaining storage conditions according to volume and weight requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, ensuring shelves, pallet areas, and workstations are orderly.
- Provide conference room set‑ups and move staff or employee equipment as needed.
- Verify receipt of inventory or retail merchandise shipments and oversee loading/unloading operations.
- May supervise the work of other associates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of warehousing methods, inventory control, retail sales practices, customer service, and standard business practices.
- Proficiency in computer use and applicable software.
- Ability to transfer stock between locations, review operations for compliance, follow prescribed standards, communicate effectively, and supervise others.
Essential Job Functions (Percent of Time)
- 20% Receiving, recording, and issuing goods with safety and storage compliance.
- 20% Sorting and placing materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence; moving materials to shipping or designated areas.
- 10% Reading customer orders and work orders to determine items for movement or shipment.
- 10% Assisting shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, matching purchase orders, and distributing to receiving associates.
- 20% Transporting goods to state buildings and other locations; performing conference room set‑ups and moving employee equipment.
- 20% Sweeping, dusting, mopping; organizing the warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
Licensure & Certification
- High school graduation or successful completion of the G.E.D. program.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Valid forklift driver’s license.
Initial Screening Criteria
- High school graduation or G.E.D. completion.
- Proficient written communication.
- Preferred experience in shipping, receiving, sorting, and distributing furniture, supplies, or equipment.
- Preferred experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, dolly, etc.
- Preferred experience driving panel truck and/or cargo van.
