Description
The Warehouse Specialist performs various manual and mechanical duties to move materials and products throughout storage and production areas. Duties include supplying all production floor with required materials and supply to keep constant flow, unloading raw stock, maintaining storage area organization, operation of forklift, and other similar duties primarily those pertaining to material handling operations. Material Handlers work as a team in a fast-paced environment and are on a rotation schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all company established methods, policies, rules, practices, and procedures to ensure employee safety, product quality and efficient operations.
- Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed; uses computer to enter records; compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications; completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas; drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
- Load and unload trucks as necessary following proper procedures.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line; assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information; opens bales, crates, and other containers; prepares parcels for mailing.
- Maintains clean work area.
- Always adheres to all plant safety rules and regulations.
- Conducts inventory control when applicable.
Education/Certifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. 2 years warehouse/forklift experience preferred.
Required Skills:
* Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one- on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
* Computer skills
* Basic math skills.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions.
* Must complete required forklift training program.
