The Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement is seeking a dependable Warehouse Specialist to join our central logistics team at the Multistate Center West (MSCW). In this role, you will manage the physical flow of library materials and state assets, performing inventory counts, order processing, and shipping/receiving tasks to ensure accurate stock and timely distribution.

Qualifications

  • Experience picking, packing, staging, and verifying customer orders with low error rate.
  • Proven ability to track stock levels, perform cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and log inventory data into a warehouse management system.
  • Documented OSHA-compliant forklift certification for Class I/IV and Class II forklifts.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds for an 8-hour shift.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Control: track stock levels, cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, log data into WOW2.
  • Order Processing: pick, pack, stage, and verify orders with high accuracy.
  • Shipping and Receiving: inspect, unload, log incoming freight, prepare outbound shipments, document properly.
  • Warehouse Organization: maintain clean, lean, safe workspace and optimize layout for space.
  • Forklift Operation: safely operate forklifts to move pallets and materials.

The Utah State Library Division is seeking a dependable Warehouse Specialist to join our central logistics team at the Multistate Center West (MSCW). In this role, you will play a vital behind-the-scenes part in supporting Midland and Western United States, education, and information access by managing the physical flow of library materials and state assets. This position operates within a structured facility where teamwork, safety, and community impact drive our daily success. Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Control: Accurately track stock levels, perform routine cycle counts and manual spot checks without a scan gun, reconcile discrepancies, and record inventory data into management systems (e.g., WOW2) to ensure optimal stock availability.
  • Order Processing: Efficiently pick, pack, stage, and verify customer and library orders against packing slips and system logs using automated or manual workflows with high accuracy.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Receive, inspect, unload, and log incoming freight, equipment, and commodities for damage, while preparing outbound shipments and coordinating proper staging and documentation.
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain a clean, lean, and safe workspace by optimizing spatial layout, arranging pallet racking/floor storage to maximize space usage, and improving stock accessibility.
  • Forklift Operation: Safely operate industrial machinery (such as sit-down counterbalance and stand-up rider forklifts) to load, unload, stack, and move heavy pallets and materials.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Order Processing: Experience picking, packing, staging, and verifying customer orders efficiently against packing slips with a low error rate.
  • Inventory Control: Proven ability to accurately track stock levels, perform cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and log inventory data into a warehouse management system.
  • Forklift Certification: Documented OSHA-compliant certification to safely operate both Class I/IV Sit-Down Counterbalance and Class II Stand-Up Rider forklifts.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, and safely lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing up to 75 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift.

  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
