Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse or shipping/receiving experience; forklift experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, LEAN concepts, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and detail orientation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork; ability to work independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Receive inbound materials, maintain receiving log, and reconcile inventory; use computerized inventory system.
  • Handle outbound shipping with couriers; ensure paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Respond to material orders; coordinate transfers and deliveries from warehouse.
  • Operate forklift and equipment safely; manage PMI boxes and organize storage.
  • Keep warehouse clean, well-labeled, and organized; coordinate with safety.
  • Promote LEAN and continuous improvement in daily operations.

About the Position

Responsible for the timely and accurate receipt, movement, and shipping of all products and supplies in the warehouse, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Day in the Life
  • Responsible for receiving and accounting for all inbound materials in the warehouse. Maintains receiving log. Accurately tracks inventory and reconciles inventory issues as they arise. Utilizes computerized inventory system. Communicates with purchaser of materials to ensure on‑time arrivals and agreed‑upon location of storage.
  • Responsible for all outbound shipping, including couriers and UPS/FedEx. Minimizes delivery costs whenever possible. Ensures all paperwork is properly completed for shipments. Partners with outside freight companies to ensure all shipments are shipped accurately and on schedule.
  • Responds to calls from field and office staff for material orders from warehouse inventory. Picks orders and schedules delivery or pick‑up. Manages material transfers and returns. Distributes packages to office personnel in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinates deliveries from the warehouse with members of the tool department.
  • Safely operates forklift, pallet jacks and hand trucks to load and unload trucks and move materials into the warehouse. Stocks and maintains the Company’s Managed Inventory (PMI) boxes. Plans, organizes, and controls the flow of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Organizes and maintains cleanliness of warehouse and outbound areas, maintaining staging areas for equipment and material. Organizes materials to make them easily accessible and clearly labeled.
  • Coordinates with the safety department to develop, maintain and practice safety policies and procedures with all equipment and tools, including forklifts, trucks, and trailers.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by establishing solid networks and communicating well with co‑workers, customers, project managers, foremen, sub‑contractors, vendors, office staff and field personnel.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co‑workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing shipping/receiving environment. Preferably 1 year of experience driving and operating a forklift truck.
  • Knowledge of essential safety and OSHA regulations, LEAN concepts, and methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills, scheduling abilities and detail orientation.
  • Effective problem solving and time management skills.
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude to work independently under pressure, assess multiple demands and manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment or warehouse, and in the field setting on construction job sites. The noise level of the work environment on job sites can be loud. The employee can be exposed to extreme conditions including cold and heat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and walking is required. The ability to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl is required. Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities of close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required.
