Job summary

Austin Lighthouse, operating as part of the Travis Association for the Blind, is seeking a Warehouse/Production Associate to efficiently process orders and move materials in a production environment.

Responsibilities include picking, packing, loading, and ensuring accurate documentation, while maintaining a safe, organized workspace. The role requires forklift skills and reliability in a non-profit setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process production orders and incoming material; prepare work orders.
  • Verify correct pulling, documentation, and disposition of orders.
  • Safely load/unload materials; move products with pallet jacks or forklift.
  • Inspect loads, weigh materials, and record data on labels/tags.
  • Perform cycle counts and maintain clean, safe work areas.
  • Follow safety rules and contribute to a safe environment.

Travis Association for the Blind/Austin Lighthouse (TAB) a non-profit organization, was founded in 1934 by Dr. Henry L. Hilgartner and other civic-minded citizens of Austin to provide a setting where blind men and women could come to learn skills and create products that were sold door to door.

Responsibilities
  • Process production orders and incoming material in a timely manner, following all accepted Company procedures. Prepares work orders by processing parts requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in staging area
  • Assure production orders are pulled correctly, properly documented, and final disposition to the production floor is correct.
  • Mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse.
  • Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Maintain and operate all company property and equipment in accordance with accepted Company practices.
  • Follow all company Safety and personnel rules and regulations.
  • Preserves safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

  • Flexible and able to multitask on several different aspects of a project or on multiple projects

  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Excellent communicator: able to understand instructions and communicate effectively
  • Strong mathematical and technical skills
  • Knowledge of safety around heavy machinery.
  • Manual and electric pallet jack, and forklift driving skills
Abilities
  • Have strong dexterity capabilities to grasp, assemble, and manipulate objects.
  • The ability to stand for 8-12 hours a day.
  • The ability to lift/move up to 25lbs items at times.
  • Be able to work with and around various chemicals.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, squat, adjust position for 50% of the time.
  • The ability to work in conditions with varying temperature, including cold and/or heat.
  • The ability to navigate safely in small or large areas/environment.
  • Be able work with minimal or no direct supervision.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Forklift Certification within 90 days of job entry date
  • Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) equipment and ERP system (Syteline CloudSuite Industrial) is preferred
