Job summary

UNFI is seeking a warehouse selector for the Santa Fe Springs area. This union position operates on Sundays with a 6 PM shift. Responsibilities include safety checks on pallet jacks, precise picking, labeling, and stage-by-stage pallet building in a busy distribution environment.

You will follow defined picking procedures, ensure correct item quantities, and maintain cleanliness while reporting any safety concerns. This role requires lifting heavy items and working within HACCP/SQF guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Safety guidelines and basic RF system functions ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned jack for safety issues.
  • Stage pallets in the appropriate bay.
  • Enter the proper information into the productivity measure.
  • Identify the correct pick location and pick sequence in order.
  • Picks the correct item and quantity, checking UPCs or item descriptions.
  • Places pick labels.
  • Correctly identifies Master Case locations and reports mis-located products.
  • Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck and other required information.
  • Listens for first and last call and obtains all out of stocks in a timely manner.
  • Keeps area clean and debris out of work area and obtains aisle-cleaning assignment.
  • Inform foreman/supervisor/manager of any safety threats.
  • Operates pallet jack safely and builds a stable pallet.
  • Parks and recharges pallet jack at shift end.
  • Performs duties per HACCP/SQF policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, pick locations, pallet building, productivity measures and safety procedures.

6 PM SHIFT - Sundays Mandatory - Union Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Inspects assigned jack for safety issues. Stages pallets in the appropriate bay.
  • Enters the proper information into the productivity measure.
  • Identifies the correct pick location and pick sequence in order.
  • Picks the correct item and quantity, checking UPC’s or item descriptions. Places pick labels.
  • Correctly identifies Master Case locations. Identifies and reports miss-located products.
  • Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other requiredinformation.
  • Listens for first and last call and obtains all out of stocks in a timely manner.
  • Keeps area clean and debris out of work area. Obtains aisle-cleaning assignment.
  • Immediately informs a foreman, supervisor or manager of any potential safetythreats.
  • Operates pallet jack/push cart in a safe and efficient manner. Builds a stable and cubed pallet.
  • Reports to supervisor or lead any violation of company policy.
  • Parks and recharges pallet jack in its appropriate spot at the end of your shift.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
  1. Selector functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures including quality standards and safety regulations.
  2. Effective communication and coordination exist with Company personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
  3. Deadlines are met.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Understanding of Safety guidelines and basic RF system functions ideal.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to select at established minimum rate for department
  • Astute, close attention to detail. Ability to lift 50+ pounds continuously.
  • Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbalinstructions in your respective area: grocery, repack, cooler/freezer.
  • Possess an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.

Compensation:

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
