Job summary

UNFI is seeking a dedicated Order Selection team member to accurately pull customer orders in our Joliet, IL warehouse. You will palletize orders, locate them correctly, and operate Electric Pallet Jacks to move products safely within the facility.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and precise picking under time constraints. Starting pay is $22.95 per hour with a Sunday shift differential of $2.00/hr and a $2.00/hr freezer premium.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of safety guidelines and proper warehouse procedures.
• Prior warehouse/operations experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds continuously and work in temperatures from -10 to 90+ °F.

In this fast-paced role, you are the boots on the ground and responsible for accurately and efficiently pulling customer orders within the warehouse. This role requires strategic thinking and attention to detail while palletizing orders and ensuring they are placed in the correct assigned locations. You will operate motorized equipment including Electric Pallet Jacks while ensuring that you safely and accurately move product within the warehouse. Position Purpose

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, pick locations, pallet building, productivity measures and safety procedures.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

• Inspects assigned jack for safety issues
• Enters the proper information into the productivity measure
• Identifies the correct pick location and pick sequence in accordance to the order
• Picks the correct item and quantity, checking UPC’s or item descriptions.
• Places pick labels on the side of the cases.
• Correctly identifies Master Case locations.
• Identifies and immediately reports miss-located products.
• Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other required information.
• Stages pallets in appropriate bay.
• Listens for first and last call and obtains all out of stocks in a timely manner.
• Keeps area clean and debris out of work area.
• Immediately informs a foreman, supervisor or manager of any potential safety threats.
• Obtains aisle-cleaning assignment
• Operates pallet jack/push cart in a safe and efficient manner.
• Reports to supervisor or lead any violation of company policy.
• Builds a stable and well cubed pallet.
• Parks and recharges pallet jack in its appropriate spot at the end of your shift.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location
• Other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements

• Selector functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures including quality standards and safety regulations.
• Effective communication and coordination exist with Company personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
• Deadlines are met.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

• Understanding of Safety guidelines

Experience Required

• Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds continuously as well as pick with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
• Must be able to work in a range of temperatures from -10 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit
• Must have safety shoes; steel toes or composite toes on Day 1 of work
• Good judgment is required for this position, as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

• Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbal instructions in your respective area: grocery, repack, cooler/freezer.

Compensation

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
