Job summary

United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) in Santa Fe Springs, CA is seeking a Warehouse Picker with experience using pallet jacks and RF systems. The role requires building stable pallets, selecting items accurately, and following safety procedures. Sundays are a mandatory 6 PM shift in a union environment.

You will stage pallets, verify UPCs, label picks, report mis-locations, and keep the work area clean. Training on HACCP and SQF is expected, with productivity standards maintained under supervision.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 50+ pounds continuously.
• Follow selecting procedures and verbal instructions in grocery, repack, cooler/freezer areas.
• Understand and apply warehouse procedures for a global understanding of all processes.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, pick locations, pallet building, productivity measures and safety procedures.

6 PM SHIFT - Sundays Mandatory - Union Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Inspects assigned jack for safety issues. Stages pallets in the appropriate bay.
• Enters the proper information into the productivity measure.
• Identifies the correct pick location and pick sequence in order.
• Picks the correct item and quantity, checking UPC’s or item descriptions. Places pick labels.
• Correctly identifies Master Case locations. Identifies and reports miss-located products.
• Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other requiredinformation.
• Listens for first and last call and obtains all out of stocks in a timely manner.
• Keeps area clean and debris out of work area. Obtains aisle-cleaning assignment.
• Immediately informs a foreman, supervisor or manager of any potential safetythreats.
• Operates pallet jack/push cart in a safe and efficient manner. Builds a stable and cubed pallet.
• Reports to supervisor or lead any violation of company policy.
• Parks and recharges pallet jack in its appropriate spot at the end of your shift.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

1. Selector functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures including quality standards and safety regulations.
2. Effective communication and coordination exist with Company personnel and with management. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
3. Deadlines are met.

• Ability to select at established minimum rate for department

• Astute, close attention to detail. Ability to lift 50+ pounds continuously.

• Understand and properly follow all selecting procedures and verbalinstructions in your respective area: grocery, repack, cooler/freezer.

• Possess an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
