Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking a Warehouse Safety Manager in Mesa, AZ to lead on-site safety initiatives across fabrication and prefabrication activities. The role focuses on implementing best practices to minimize OSHA citations and protect workers in a dynamic construction environment.

You will educate teams, manage incidents and maintain safety records. The position requires strong communication, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate with the Safety Director and facilities teams.

Qualifications

• BSc/BA in safety management or relevant is preferred.
• 3-5 years of proven safety experience (fabrication preferred).
• EMT or equivalent certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 & 30, 1910.
• Experience with fabrication style gantry crane preferred.
• Working knowledge of legal health and safety guidelines.
• Proven knowledge of risk assessment.
• Ability to effectively work as a team member.
• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
• Good communication, interpersonal abilities and motivational skills.
• Good knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage accident / safety claims as they occur (accompany employee to urgent care).
• Write initial incident reports (by occurrence).
• Manage return to work / modified duty claims.
• Assist in set-up of safety protocols and processes for Fabrication and Prefabrication under the direction of the Arizona Safety Director.
• Perform Fabrication area inspections (reports).
• Manage crane lift plans and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain Fabrication and Prefabrication Safety Committee.
• Work with building maintenance to ensure safety protocols are being followed and reports are completed.
• Maintain emergency response plan for Fabrication area.

Job purpose

The Warehouse Safety Manager (WSM) serves as an on-site specialist in safety by implementing best practices and procedures within the company that effectively control accident and health exposures and minimize OSHA citations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Warehouse Safety Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The WSM is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Primarily fabrication-based, but some office-based work will be included. Typical working hours for the WSM may vary. Generally Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when safety incidents occur, they may be required to work longer hours as assigned, including some weekend work. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.

While performing the duties of this job, the WSM may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).
