MSI is seeking an entry-level Overhead Crane Operator in the Suffolk, VA area to accurately pull slab orders using overhead cranes and move slabs to loading zones. Adherence to safety guidelines is essential for precise material handling and efficient workflow.

The role is full-time, hourly, with overtime at 1.5x and potential bonuses. A high school diploma and warehouse experience are required, with proficiency in tablets and strong communication expected.

Responsibilities

• Load slabs onto customer vehicles or trucks, ensuring proper placement and securement.
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure secure material transport.
• Use forklifts to unload slabs from incoming containers.
• Organize and arrange slabs in the warehouse using forklifts and cranes.
• Maintain a clean and safe slab warehouse environment for staff and visitors.

Summary:

The Overhead Crane Operator accurately pulls slab orders using overhead cranes, adhering to all safety procedures and operational guidelines. This role is vital to ensuring timely and precise material handling within the facility.

Work Hours:

Monday to Friday from 07:00 AM to 05:30 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 07:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Compensation:

This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $19 to $21 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $49,500 and $65,400 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

• Accurately pull slab orders from warehouse inventory
• Operate overhead cranes to move slabs to designated loading areas
• Load slabs onto customer vehicles or trucks, ensuring proper placement and securement
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure secure material transport
• Use forklifts to unload slabs from incoming containers
• Organize and arrange slabs in the warehouse using forklifts and cranes
• Maintain a clean and safe slab warehouse environment for staff and visitors
• Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Two (2) plus years of experience in a warehouse environment
• Forklift, crane, and warehouse experience preferred
• Proficient with tablets or iPads
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
