Job summary

UNFI is hiring at its NorCal Produce distribution center in West Sacramento. The picker will understand equipment, determine pick locations and sequences, and build safe, stable pallets for outbound shipments.

The role requires at least one year of warehouse experience, familiarity with electrical pallet jacks, and comfort working in a chilled environment (~35°F). Full-time, on-site work with incentive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• One year warehouse experience is preferred.
• Experience with pallet jacks and basic material handling.
• Ability to work in a refrigerated/chilled environment (around 35 degrees).
• Good judgement and safety awareness in fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and safety checks before use.
• Identify correct pick locations and sequences per orders.
• Pick items and quantities, verify UPCs/descriptions.
• Apply labels and ensure proper case locations.
• Build stable, cubed pallets and stage in designated bays.
• Maintain clean work area and report safety threats.

Schedule

• Sundays are mandatory! (Busiest day of the week)
• 2 days back-to-back off during the week with Saturdays always off
• 2PM start time – until work is done
• Fully climate-controlled warehouse – must be ok with chill environment (no freezer, just fridge around 35 degrees) nuts, fruits, veggies, fresh flower etc. are found at this distribution center

Job Overview

Responsible for having a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, pick locations, pallet building, productivity measures and safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities And Accountabilities

• Inspects assigned jack for safety issues
• Enters the proper information into the productivity measure
• Identifies the correct pick location and pick sequence in accordance to the order
• Pick the correct item and quantity, checking UPC’s or item descriptions
• Places pick labels on the side of the cases
• Correctly identifies Master Case locations
• Identifies and immediately reports miss-located products
• Shrink wraps and labels with correct truck, stop and other required information
• Stages pallets in appropriate bay
• Keeps area clean and debris out of work area
• Immediately informs a supervisor or manager of any potential safety threats
• Obtains aisle-cleaning assignment
• Operates pallet jack/pushcart in a safe and efficient manner
• Reports to supervisor or leave any violation of company policy
• Builds a stable and well cubed pallet

Job Requirements

• Minimum one year warehouse experience preferred
• Experience with electrical pallet jack, or similar
• Ability to select at established minimum rate
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from 30 – 35 degrees Fahrenheit
• Good judgement is required for this position as there may times when direct supervisor may not be immediately available
• Lifting objects weighing from less than 60lbs – 100 lbs. consistently
• Occasionally pushing, sitting, touching, reaching, climbing, pulling and gripping

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
