Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking operators for our Taunton, MA manufacturing plant. The role involves preparing and cutting cable lengths, inspecting products for quality, and assisting with packaging and loading tasks.

You will also support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced production environment. The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, basic math and communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Some manufacturing experience or proven mechanical ability preferred.
• Ability to learn basic computer transactions and SAP system use.

Responsibilities

• Remove material from stock according to cut schedules and written instructions; spool and cut cables to required lengths for customers.
• Visually inspect cable for damages or deficient lengths; report to supervision as needed.
• Assist in packaging and lagging reels; help load/unload trucks as required.
• Perform preventive maintenance, 6S activities, and participate in continuous improvement events.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems.

Job Description / Requirements

• Will remove material from stock working from order cut schedules and written instructions; spooling and cutting finished cables to length per customer needs.
• Visually inspects cable for damages and/or short lengths advising supervision of any deficiency.
• Will be responsible to aide in the packaging and lagging of reels in preparation for shipping. At times will be required to aid in loading truck or be a spotter during loading.
• Will perform preventive maintenance procedures, 6S activities and participate in continuous improvement events.
• Must always maintain work area in a safe and orderly condition.
• Ensure all products meet requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
• Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
• Will be required to work overtime as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.

Requirements

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Some manufacturing experience or proven/demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Must complete on job training (OJT) for specific job classification as required in a timely manner.

Skills/Attributes

• Must be able to use pneumatic tools, such as air nail guns and hand drills.
• Must be able to train for forklift licensed or certification.
• Must be able to work independently according to verbal and written instructions.
• Must learn basic computer transactions and inputs; must have ability to become certified SAP User.
• Must have basic math and communication skills. Must develop and maintain proficiency in required job skills.
• Must be capable of lifting or moving 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting or moving 75 lbs.
• Must be able to distinguish different colors

Wage Range

$20.88 to $24.66
