Wheatland Tube at Zekelman Industries in Rochelle, IL is hiring a Warehouse Operator to support distribution by picking, packing, and loading steel tube and pipe. Under supervision, operate standard warehouse equipment while prioritizing safety, accuracy, and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years warehouse experience.
• Experience in steel/tubing environments preferred.
• Basic math for order processing.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Champion and enforce safe work practices in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare materials, products, and equipment for distribution and shipment.
• Process and fulfill orders for customers and internal teams.
• Pick, pack, and stage orders while verifying accuracy using scanning tools.
• Load shipments onto flatbed trucks or LTL carriers.
• Receive, inspect, and process incoming materials, reporting damages as required.
• Replenish warehouse stock and rotate inventory using reach trucks or forklifts.
• Operate forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, and walkie rider pallet jacks to move materials efficiently.
• Standardize and optimize shipping and receiving procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.
• Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance.

About the Role

Who You Are

• Warehouse experience preferred, including experience in steel, tubing, or similar industrial environments
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to perform basic math for accurate order processing
• Strong communication skills to support collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Problem-solving skills to address day-to-day warehouse challenges
• High attention to detail to ensure order accuracy and adherence to quality standards

Physical Abilities

• Perform work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required
• Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods

Below is the expected base hourly range for this position. This is a good‑faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance. Base Hourly Range: starting at $25.00 USD per hour
