Job summary

FTTDC - Ohio Logistics is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely move, store, and handle products within our distribution center. Responsibilities include loading/unloading trailers, receiving and shelving inventory, and fulfilling orders with accuracy.

The role requires use of RF scanners and WMS, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with team members to meet daily priorities. A high school diploma or GED is required, with forklift experience and certification a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklifts and powered equipment per policies and OSHA standards.
  • Load/unload trailers and transport inventory to designated locations.
  • Pick, build, and stage pallets accurately and efficiently.
  • Use RF scanners and WMS to track inventory movements.
  • Inspect inbound/outbound shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Support cycle counts, inventories, and audits as needed.
  • Communicate workflow priorities with team and supervisors.

Job description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient movement, storage, and handling of products throughout the distribution center using powered industrial equipment. This role plays a critical part in warehouse operations by loading and unloading trailers, accurately receiving and storing inventory, fulfilling orders, and ensuring inventory integrity. The Forklift Operator is also responsible for inspecting inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all safety and quality standards.

Reports To: Tier 3 Lead Forklift Operator / Senior Supervisor

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
  • Load and unload trailers according to customer and shipping specifications.
  • Transport, stack, and store inventory in designated warehouse locations.
  • Pick and build mixed-product pallets accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilize RF scanners and warehouse management systems to track inventory movements.
  • Verify inbound shipments by auditing packing lists and ensuring quantities and product information match received goods.
  • Inspect products and shipments for damage and report discrepancies promptly.
  • Perform occasional case picking and other manual warehouse tasks as required.
  • Conduct pre-shift and routine forklift inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Optimize trailer and warehouse space utilization when loading and storing products.
  • Prepare pallets for shipment, including wrapping, banding, labeling, and staging.
  • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and priorities.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Previous forklift experience preferred; forklift certification is a plus.
  • Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic math, counting, and inventory verification skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit forklift equipment throughout the workday.
  • Maintain visual awareness necessary to safely operate equipment and inspect inventory.

This position is performed in a warehouse and distribution center environment and may include:

  • Working in close proximity to team members, equipment, and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions depending on seasonal weather.
  • Operating around powered industrial equipment, trailers, pallets, and warehouse inventory.
  • Periodic manual labor and physical activity.
  • Ability to work in an environment where dust, product odors, and other warehouse conditions may be present.
