Job summary

Ryerson in Greenville, SC is seeking a Service Center Operator C to join a legacy of reliable service. The role centers on day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

You will work with feedstock, break down bundles, package to customer specs, and operate forklifts and SAP for shipping/receiving, while onboarding into a registered apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• Applicants must pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance and basic math skills required.
• Basic computer skills and comfort using a computer.

As a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 1yearof similar job experience preferred

• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
